While both life coaches and therapists help individuals improve their lives, therapists typically focus on addressing mental health issues and past traumas, while life coaches focus on helping individuals achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.
My approach to goal-setting is to help clients identify specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. I also work with clients to create an action plan and provide accountability to ensure they stay on track to achieve their goals.
Confidentiality is of utmost importance in my coaching practice. I adhere to the International Coach Federation's (ICF) as well as the BCC Code of Ethics, which include strict guidelines for maintaining client confidentiality.
Think of wellness as an umbrella term. Wellness refers to the combination of medical health and well-being; both are concerned with a person's mind, body, and emotions. The health sector primarily uses a medical approach. In contrast, well-being focuses on the whole person's quality of life in not only the mind, body, emotions, but also the social and spirit domains.
Resilience is the capacity to adapt and recover from difficult, challenging, stressful situations. It is the ability to move forward maintaining a sense of well-being despite the difficulty.
